That’s why our process helps you zoom out from the daily frustration and focus on the big picture. We’ll set realistic goals and create an actionable, step-by-step plan for you and your pup. We believe every dog can succeed, and our ultimate goal is to help you thrive together - because confident, well-behaved dogs make for happier families and a safer, more welcoming community for everyone in Vancouver.
When you win,
we all WIN!
Small wins lead to big successes! and at KRU, we’re all about acknowledging and celebrating even the tiniest of your dog’s wins. We get it…raising a puppy is anything BUT a walk in the park and sometimes requires us to zoom out and look at things from a big picture. We’ll help you set goals and create actionable plans for you and your pup. No matter the size, breed, age and drive - we truly believe all dogs are winners!
KRU (ครู) = TEACHER
KRU (ครู) is the Thai word for "teacher," but its meaning is deeply rooted in respect. This is the core of our philosophy.
We believe we have as much to learn from our four-legged companions as they have to learn from us. Our method is built on honoring this two-way street. We teach you how to become a great leader and an excellent communicator by first learning to respect boundaries and understand what your dog is truly telling you.
This is how we build a bond based on mutual trust, not just commands.
KRU (ครู) = TEACHER
The word KRU means teacher or mentor in Thai. But the definition of KRU goes beyond the direct translation and is deeply rooted in respect. At KRU, we believe that we could always learn a thing or two from our four-legged companions. We have a deep respect for animals and all the beings that we share our environment with - and we honour that by acknowleging and respecting boundaries by learning how to become great leaders and excellent communicators.
ABOUT THE TRAINER
As the founder and head trainer of KRU, Nicko isn't just a dog trainer; he's a professional designer. This background informs his "design-thinking" approach, allowing him to see beyond the symptoms and build a custom, effective plan that gets to the root cause of your dog's behavior. His career pivot began five years ago with his shelter pup, Django, sparking a mission to make expert behavioral training accessible and easy for overwhelmed, first-time owners. To ensure the highest standard of care, Nicko is on track to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT). When not with clients, you can find him planning his next adventure with Django or in his workshop, prototyping his next dog training innovation.
